"One boy and his toy are about to change everything... Jack loves his childhood toy, Dur Pig. DP has always been there for him, through good and bad. Until one Christmas Eve something terrible happens -- DP is lost. But Christmas Eve is a night for miracles and lost causes, a night when all things can come to life... even toys. And Jack’s newest toy -- the Christmas Pig (DP’s replacement) -- has a daring plan: Together they’ll embark on a magical journey to seek something lost, and to save the best friend Jack has ever known..." - Amazon description Welcome to Christmas book club! In this three-day summer break book club camp, third-grade students will read The Christmas Pig by J.K. Rowling and come to class to discuss fun reading comprehension questions, and guess puzzles. Class will begin with a fun warm-up Christmas-related question to get everyone engaged and ready to participate. The teacher will then guide students through a series of multiple-choice and critical-thinking questions based on the reading schedule. By utilizing a finger-voting system, all students can answer multiple-choice questions at the same time. For critical thinking questions, students will raise their hands and take turns sharing their thoughts. Throughout the class, students will get a "brain break" as we return to the lesson puzzle and students guess the secret puzzle! The class will end with the teacher reminding them what to read before coming to the next class. 🧣🧣🧣 PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD READ PARTS 1 AND 2 BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF BOOK CLUB (chapters 1-20) 🧣🧣🧣 Here is the three-day class schedule (PST): 🐷 Monday, December 16th: Parts 1 (Dur Pig) and 2 (Mislaid): chapters 1-20 🐷 Wednesday, December 18th: Parts 3 (Disposable), 4 (Brother-It's-Gone), and 5 (The Wastes of the Unlamented): chapters 21-38 🐷 Friday, December 20th: Parts 6 (The City of the Missed), 7 (The Island of the Beloved), 8 (The Loser's Lair), and 9 (Home): chapters 39-58 See you in the classroom!
