Winter Break Guitar Camp - Beginners

The class is intended for students with no prior music training or more minor than a year of music lessons. It begins with an introduction to the guitar and the beginning steps of music reading. The students will learn the essential elements of guitar playing and a small introduction to music theory while learning a music piece, including a small performance at the end of the Mini-Camp. Through satisfactory completion of the lessons, students will: 1. Learn the fundamentals of guitar playing 2. Perform exercises and songs with proper posture and positions 3. Demonstrate proper functional motions of the left-right hand and fingers 4. Demonstrate proper functional motions of hands 5. Expand your repertoire 6. Finish with a full performance
Mr. Axel is a graduate of Rice University, where he completed his Master’s degree in cello performance. He received his Bachelor of Music at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, a Professional Performance Certificate, and a Master of Music degree from Lynn University. Mr. Axel has performed with numerous chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout North, Central, South America, Europe, and East Asia. He has participated in prestigious summer festivals, including Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, SHMF (Germany) for four consecutive years, Orchestra of the Americas (YOA), International Music Academy of Solsona, AIMS Festival (Spain), Zeist Music Days (Netherlands), and The Aronson Cello Festival (United States). Additionally, he was part of the Ensemble Bartok invited to participate in China’s “Meet in Beijing Festival," including performances in Beijing, Seoul, London, and Málaga. Currently, Mr. Axel performs frequently with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and occasionally with the Chicago Philharmonic. As a teaching artist, he has been involved in multiple projects such as Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. (Florida), YOA Global Leaders (Honduras and Ecuador), Vivace International School of Music, Coda Music Program (Texas), and The Harmony Program across New York City.
