Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
In this fun Winter-themed class, students will play a game of Bingo! The Bingo cards will be filled with pictures that are related to this time of year. Pictures include snowmen, snowflakes, snow globes, sleds, polar bears, and more! Before starting the game, the teacher will go over the various pictures that students may see on their card. The teacher will then begin using shuffled calling cards to call out the different Winter-themed items. The first student to get 5 in a row wins the game! Depending on timing, the game may be played multiple times within the 25 minutes. Students will practice the social skills of patience, taking turns and sportsmanship.

Hello, I am so excited for the opportunity to work with your child. As a new mom, I have decided to step away from the classroom but I wanted to continue to use my passion for teaching young students.

I graduated from the University of Hartford in 2014 after studying Elementary and Special Education. I received my Master’s in Special Education from Fordham University in 2016. I have been teaching full-time since 2014 in various grades - from Kindergarten to 3rd Grade. I have experience with remote teaching, so I will be able to create an engaging experience for your child during our virtual session.

While I do offer some small-group classes, my favorite thing to do on Outschool is 1:1 tutoring - both in ELA and Math. I love teaching foundational reading and math skills. For example, I enjoy guided reading lessons that teach students how to decode words and better comprehend the story. I also enjoy teaching sight words through games. In Math, I enjoy teaching all operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) through visuals and manipulatives. It is crucial that students understand the foundational skills so they are set up for future success.

Having classroom experience, I will be able to assess your child to see what their individual needs are and how to best support them. An example of an assessment would be a Running Record - which helps to determine your child’s reading level. I will communicate with you after each lesson and discuss the next steps we will work on to help your child succeed.

*Most of my tutoring schedule is done by request, so please send me a message and we can coordinate a time :)
