Winter Book Camp

In this four or five day course, students will read three winter texts by Jan Brett. After reading the texts, students will compare and contrast the content of the texts. After the comparison, students will develop a short winter story.

Description

Class Experience

Over winter break, I will host a winter reading and writing class that will last for five days. We will read the texts "Gingerbread Friends," "The Mitten" and "The Three Snow Bears" by Jan Brett. We will compare and contrast the settings, characters, and plot of each text. After we complete the comparison, students will write a very short story, about a paragraph, which involves winter and includes at least one character, one setting, and three or more events. Students will improve their reading comprehension and their creative writing skills.

No homework.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
