In this one time class, we'll create a step by step portrait of our beloved hero, Dog Man. We'll use crayon and watercolor paint to use a wax resist technique and create a snowy scene, perfect for the winter time. This class will be interactive and students can share something they love about the Dog Man books, and something they love about winter. Students will use basic shapes to draw the portrait of dog man. Students will learn the science behind the painting technique of wax resist. Students will learn how to bleed colors into each other to create a gradient for the sky.
White drawing paper or watercolor paper, pencil, eraser, crayons, watercolor paints, a brush, cup for water, a paper towel sheet, plastic tray or paper plate for a palette.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessment will happen informally during the step by step instructions.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
