Class Experience

In this one time class, we will look at some old photographs of blizzards in US history to get us into a snowy mood. Each student will share one thing they love about wintertime. This will be an interactive class with a guided drawing lesson. We will learn step by step how to draw the snow plow using very basic shapes and then give that plow some snow to move!

We will add in a street, mountains, trees and clouds to create a winter landscape. All students will receive a PDF of the basic shapes that make up the drawing, so we can learn to find the simple shapes in a drawing.
Learning Goals
Students will get a chance to interact with peers about a winter topic and learn to find the basic shapes in a drawing. Students will learn how to draw a landscape through guided practice.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Jennifer Schultz and I have twenty years of teaching experience. I have taught art in summer camps, after school programs, art centers and brick and mortar schools.

I have had the opportunity to work with students ages 4 through 14. My teaching philosophy is to meet the student where they are and to provide challenges through technique and critical thinking questions, so they can increase their understanding. I think art provides a great, hands on experience to other subjects (math, science, language arts, and social studies). I will be offering lots of how to draw classes, art technique, and art history (artists and movements).

I also love American music (jazz, blues, early rock) and would like to offer music appreciation classes on those topics.

I raised 3 puppies for Canine Companions for Independence and its was a blast!

I hope to see you soon in my class.
