What's included
1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will learn how to make *homemade/DIY puffy paint. **They will then use their puffy paint to paint a snowman. While students are painting, I will be reading snowman poetry to them. The poems will be put on the screen -- along with pictures & illustrations of snowmen -- through the use of slides. We will open the class with greetings and introductions. Then we will mix our puffy paint. I will be showing students step-by-step how to do this. After the paint is mixed and ready, we will paint our snowmen. I will ask students questions about their experiences (or lack thereof) with snow. I encourage participation and the exchange of ideas. I want students to be engaged and active throughout the learning experience. There will be many opportunities for students to interact with me and with one another as we talk about snow, snowmen, & our puffy paint recipe and also as we discuss the snowman poetry. *Supplies are listed in the Supply List section. Students/parents will need to have these supplies gathered and ready for the class meeting. **NOTE: Students might have to finish adding decorations to their puffy paint snowmen after the class is over. No prior knowledge or experience is required.

Supply List
**Supplies 3/4 cup shaving cream (FOAM, the gel kind will NOT work) 1/4 cup white glue (If the consistency is not what you desire, you can add up to 1/8 cup more glue.) 1/4 cup flour Food Coloring ***Posterboard (1/4 or 1/2 of a large sheet should be fine, depending upon how big you want the snowman) ***If you're painting your snowman white, then you will need posterboard of a color other than white. You may choose to paint a colorful snowman by using food coloring to color your puffy paint; in this case, white posterboard will work just fine. Quart OR gallon-sized Ziploc bags -- These will be used to store the paint (it dries in the air) and can also be used as "icing" bags. Scissors Black pom-poms: Two sizes (2 large pom-poms for the eyes and 6-8 small pom-poms for the mouth) Orange pom-poms: One size (1 large pom-pom for the nose) Construction paper or other decorative materials of your choice for hat, scarf, arms, etc. Paintbrushes **NOTE: If you have more than one child enrolled in the class, you will need to double, triple, etc. the ingredients in this recipe according to the number of children who will be using the paint.
