Learners will have a fast and fun lesson in how to draw one of our favorite icy cold creatures, the polar bear. If you’ve drawn animals with me before, I will give you more of what you love (practicing the folk and kawaii art styles) while trying some new things! If you’ve never drawn with me, then what are you waiting for? Sign up and join me for a drawing class so fun, it’s almost a party. In our polar bear class, I will guide you step by step in drawing the animal in two fun and unique art styles in pencil. Then, we will brainstorm some ideas of more fun winter details we can add to our picture. We will add as many details as time allows and then in the end, I will invite learners to show their masterpieces and exchange feedback and encouragement. We will do a pencil drawing only during class, but I will encourage students to finish their art by coloring it after class using their chosen medium, and then returning to the classroom to post their finished art after they’ve had time to create. With parent permission, I will then share their artworks with my kind and loving community of followers on Instagram and Facebook so that learners can get the excitement of seeing other love their artwork. Also after class, I will post a printable fun pack for students to continue the creative enjoyment. They will receive illustrated guides of how to draw the animals so that they can practice again or teach someone else how to draw them. They will also receive a coloring page designed by me, especially for them, and an “idea sheet” of more winter details they could add to their work.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a professional artist, my personal art style is “folk art.” This is a visually appealing form of storybook art that sparks the imagination of adults and children alike. I will never ever ever get tired of folk art! I love to combine folk art with elements of nature which offers me an amazing opportunity to teach science concepts while we learn art. Kawaii is a very different art style, but as a mom and teacher I have learned that kids in this age group tend to love Kawaii across the board. Using both styles offers them the ability to make artistic choices and to keep their brains energized and engaged with the creating process.
