Class Experience
Students will learn important color theory fundamentals such as the color wheel, complementary colors, and color mixing. They will also learn a variety of watercolor techniques like wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry, washes, blending, and splattering. We will discuss how to properly clean and care for your brushes so they will last you for years to come! Students will also learn how to create a variety of simple, but beautiful flowers, leaves, and feathers while also learning to arrange them into an attractive composition.
-140 lb Watercolor Paper (You could get away with 90 lb mixed media paper, but you CANNOT use regular printer paper with watercolors!) -Masking or painters tape -Scotch (cellophane) tape -Paper towels -Two jars of water -A variety of *watercolor* brushes (recommended: #10 round brush and #2 round brush) -Watercolor paints (Ideally at least a "warm" red, blue, and yellow; a "cool" red, blue, and yellow; and a grey or black) -Hair dryer -Black waterproof pen or marker -Scissors -A firm board to tape your paper to (optional) -Cardstock paper and glue or double sided tape (optional) -White acrylic paint (optional) If you have questions about any of the supplies, please send me a message!
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please note that the use of a hairdryer is recommended. Hairdryers can get hot and cause burns. Parental supervision and/or assistance may be required for this.
