The writing assignment will be assigned over a two week period. They will be needing to read 4 chapters per week before coming to class.Assessment

This will be a mixed class. The first half we will discuss the chapters of the book we read and that will be followed by a look into the history and lore of Sea Monsters from different cultures and times throughout the world. If your students can access a secondary device like a smartphone or tablet during the first part of class to complete a Kahoot trivia quiz that we will do for each section of the book that would be helpful. Learning Goals
Students will gain a broader understanding of themes and messages in novels through the study of dragons and sea monsters. They will be able to comprehend and grasp the ideas behind these mythological or not creatures.

Parental Guidance
There is some violence in the series and ancient discussion of dragons that will come up in the book and class.

I will post a PDF of each homework activity weekly. You will need a copy of the book, audiobook, or e-book for the student to read between classes.
