Class Experience
This will be a mixed class. The first half we will discuss the chapters of the book we read and that will be followed by a look into the history and lore of dragons in different cultures and times throughout the world. There is also a flex version of this class now available. Week 1- Chapters 1-5 5-10 minute Intros and review of Which dragonet are you? quiz 20-25 Minute Discussion and Comprehension Checks 20-25 minute Discussion and lesson on where did the idea of dragons come from Week 2...
Students will gain a broader understanding of themes and messages in novels through the study of dragons. They will be able to comprehend and grasp the ideas behind these mythological or not creatures.
This is a series I have enjoyed reading alongside my own children and am excited to have the opportunity to present this to other learners now.
I will post one activity for the students to complete before each class. It is a fun and engaging activity that should not take a lot of their time. The writing assignment will be assigned over a two week period. They will be needing to read 5 chapters per week before coming to class.
I will email a PDF of each homework activity weekly.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Discussion and Comprehension checks in each lesson. Each student will be assessed every lesson.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
There is some violence in the series and ancient discussion of dragons that will come up in the book and class.
