Class Experience

Create Model Figures of Your Favorite Dragons: A Sculpting Workshop

Join us for an exciting weekly sculpting workshop where we’ll explore the characteristics of a different Wings of Fire (WOF) dragon each week. Together, we’ll analyze the unique features of the dragon, including body shape, wings, horns, and tail, to determine the best poses and details for your sculpture.

In addition to the dragon itself, we’ll be adding fun accessories like pets (Silver the sloth, Talkatoo the cockatoo), scrolls, and more to personalize each model. You’ll have the option to follow along with me as I sculpt or work on your own dragon design.

This workshop is ideal for students with some prior knowledge of the Wings of Fire book series and basic clay sculpting techniques. If you love dragons and are eager to learn the art of sculpting, this hands-on experience will be both educational and creative!

Key Features:

Weekly Wings of Fire dragon focus
Learn sculpting techniques for dragons and accessories
Customizable designs with added features (pets, scrolls, etc.)
Guidance for both beginners and advanced sculptors
Fun, interactive, and educational
Let’s bring your favorite dragons to life in 3D!

For Wings of Fire Chapter Book and Graphic Novel fans, we will discuss what we know about each dragon prior to sculpting. No knowledge of the material is necessary. Students may wish to just join in to learn about all the different types of dragons and sculpt some pretty cool characters. We will work through The Dragonet Prophecy (first set of books), The Jade Mountain Prophecy, The Lost Continent Prophecy, plus Wings of Fire Legends, Queens and more!

All the Dragons in the Class Image were sculpted by me during classes.

Suggested Supplies:
Polymer Bake Clay in a variety of colors (Many of the Dragons use Black, Blues, Greens, Browns, White, Yellows)

Basic sculpting tools, rolling pin, a sharp cutting tool

Some wooden toothpicks are handy

A bit of Aluminum foil

OPTIONAL Supplies to take your creations to the next level of awesome :)
Glass beads/eyes (I use mainly 4mm and 6mm)

Mica Powders (these come in many colors, I use them in class often to add shimmer/color shift)

Acrylic paint pens work great for details (after baking)

**Polymer clay requires baking according to the package direction. (Generally ~275 °F, depending on your brand of clay). You will bake after class. Parental help is necessary.
