Win More Arguments - Learn to Debate Introductory Class
In this one-time course students will learn how to turn their arguments into academic debates in order to increase the chances of persuading listeners. Students apply the technique in an active debate with teacher feedback and guidance.

Class Experience
Teacher Education & Training: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University - Graduated December 2015. Certifications from the state of Texas: Core Subjects Grades 4-8 (Current) Core Subjects Grades EC-6 (Current) English Language Arts and Reading Grades 4-8 (Current) English as a Second Language Supplemental Grades EC-8 (Current) Teacher Experience: Middle School English Teacher in Texas Public Schools (August 2016- May 2020) Public speaking skills are a part of the curriculum for Texas ELAR standards. 6th Grade English Language Arts and Reading Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills Section B (1) Developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, discussion, and thinking--oral language. The student develops oral language through listening, speaking, and discussion. The student is expected to: (A) listen actively to interpret a message, ask clarifying questions, and respond appropriately; (B) follow and give oral instructions that include multiple action steps; (C) give an organized presentation with a specific stance and position, employing eye contact, speaking rate, volume, enunciation, natural gestures, and conventions of language to communicate ideas effectively; and (D) participate in student-led discussions by eliciting and considering suggestions from other group members, taking notes, and identifying points of agreement and disagreement.
