US Grade 3 - 6
Welcome to Wildlife Scientist: Asian Big Cats, Self-Paced Edition. Over the next 4 weeks, you will learn about these big cats by exploring the types, physical characteristics, adaptations, habitats, family and social behaviors. You will also take a deep dive into their conservation status, specifically the "why" and "how" and "what" wildlife biologists and conservationists are doing to save this species from extinction in the wild. OUR CLASS OBJECTIVE: In this wildlife science class, students will learn important facts about the characteristics, habitat, diet, family life, and the ongoing field work behind the conservation status of Pumas, Lions, Leopards and Cheetahs. Learning Activities: Examples include: a creature labeling and classification activity, matching and identifying creature concepts, writing vocabulary words and conservation brainstorming worksheets designed to support science, writing and math concepts. I'll also include templates or art prompts for creative enrichment. Available Assessment: I created an assessment quiz using Kahoot and it is posted as an optional link that opens up right on the classroom page. Please contact me if you would like to have the quiz in a worksheet form. This is optional and no account is necessary to take the quiz. Questions and Feedback: I am available for lesson feedback or questions, please message me through the classroom. VIDEO LESSONS were created and recorded by me, made available to be viewed through a link via YouTube. The video is an embedded link and so the lesson displays ON the classroom page. No account is necessary to access the lesson, and you do not have to go to YouTube. REAL SCIENCE LESSONS: Lessons are made available on the classroom page, posted as video links and will include worksheet activity packs. I am available for lesson feedback or questions, please message me through the classroom.

Syllabus
4 Lessons
over 4 WeeksLesson 1:
Tigers of Asia
In this lesson, you will learn about Tigers. We will explore their wild habitats, physical traits, social behaviors and how they are specifically adapted for survival in their ecosystem. We will also be taking a deep dive into their conservation status, specifically the "why" and "how" and "what" wildlife biologists and conservationists are doing to save this species from extinction in the wild.
Lesson 2:
Snow Leopards of the Himalayas
In this lesson, you will learn about Snow Leopards found in the Himalayan Mountain range. We will discover their specialized physical traits for surviving in their wild habitat, their social behaviors and how they are deeply connected to the balance of their ecosystem. We will also be taking a deep dive into their conservation status and the steps biologists are taking to guard this species from extinction.
Lesson 3:
Clouded Leopards
In this lesson, you will learn about Clouded Leopards of Southeast Asia. You will get to know their wild habitats, specialized physical traits, social behaviors and how they are struggling to adapt in their shrinking natural ecosystem. You will also discover how this rare and critically endangered wild cat species is now being protected by conservation laws and technology.
Lesson 4:
Amur Leopards
In this lesson, you will learn about the critically endangered Amur Leopard. You will learn about their wild habitat in Northern Asia, their physical traits, social behaviors and why their ongoing presence is so important in their wild ecosystem. We will also learn how they were once thought to be extinct in the wild and how conservationists are helping to bring back their populations and restore the species balance to the ecosystem.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Western Governors University (no expiration date)
I have a BA in Elementary Education and my credentials are uploaded to Outschool. I taught classroom science to both preschool and elementary aged students for almost twenty years before coming to the Outschool online platform. As a child, I developed a strong love of nature and animals through books and hands-on experiences. As a teacher, I'm constantly reading, researching and learning everything I can about wild animal conservation and the natural world.
