Description

Class Experience

After six weeks, students will be able to thoroughly describe the characteristics and ecology of Kruger National Park. Students will have a comprehensive understanding of the wildlife native to this area, conservation, tourism, and more.
I got my bachelor's degree in biology (wildlife ecology) and my Master's in science education. I am a high school biology, environmental science, and zoology teacher and have experience working with many animals, including from sloths to poisonous frogs to sea anemones. Animals are my favorite thing to teach!
Each week, there will be a lesson and a short quiz for students to complete to test their knowledge. Additional tasks and supplemental materials will be shared in the classroom for students to read, watch, and complete, as desired. Students will be encouraged to join in weekly discussion with classmates (pending section enrollment).
There are no other supplies needed, but students may choose to use Google suite (documents, slides, etc) for notes or activities. Students may also choose to use art supplies for some projects but are not required to use any of these materials. Students may want to print out class materials, but again, not required.

No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
There will be brief graphic imagery of animal carcasses, especially during our discussion of carnivores and lion hunting patterns. These images will only be during the video lessons. I will provide ample warning before showing the videos so that students can look away if they would like and then will again note out loud when the images are gone so students can resume watching the lesson. I want to give students a full picture of the ecology but also want all students to be comfortable.
