Save the Species: Endangered animals need YOUR help! So many animals on our planet are now sadly endangered and at risk of extinction. They face numerous threats which could lead to the loss of many species around the world. From trophy hunting and poaching to habitat destruction, pollution, and loss of prey. Each week, students will be introduced to an animal that is listed as being vulnerable to critically endangered. Students will learn key facts about each animal and discuss the...
Students will learn key scientific vocabulary such as endangered and extinct. Students will learn key facts about at-risk animals. Students will be able to take away actionable steps they can do at home to help save animals.
A printable will be provided each week. x1 will focus on the hands-on activity to rebuild an animals habitat and x1 will focus on written content. Printables are provided 24 hours before the start of the class. Students may also need pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue. A full supply list will be provided a week before the following class.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please be aware that this class does discuss sensitive topics in relation to the unnecessary death and killing of animals. No graphics or videos are shared that display this content. The only graphics shared are of each living animal. But, due to the nature of the topic, it may not be an appropriate class for learners who may find this subject distressing. Students may also require scissors for the printable activity. Parental supervision may be required.
