Welcome to an ongoing weekly live drawing class, designed specifically for students aged 10-15 (flexible). In this student-driven environment, you get to choose which animal we draw each week! Whether you want to follow along step-by-step with the teacher or add your own unique ideas, you will find a supportive and informal atmosphere that encourages creativity and friendship. What You Will Learn In each class, you will learn to draw and sketch various animals while also exploring different artistic techniques. You’ll have a front-row seat to observe the teacher’s demonstrations, where you can ask questions and receive personalized guidance, making the experience tailored to your needs. Key Highlights of the Class: --Tailored Learning: Small class sizes allow for personalized instruction, ensuring that every student leaves feeling confident and happy with their artwork. --Directed Approach: Each session focuses on drawing animals. You’ll practice seeing basic shapes, shading for depth, and blending colors to create vibrant art. --Creative Choices: You are encouraged to make individual decisions about your artwork, celebrating your creativity throughout the class. Engagement and Feedback At the end of each class, take part in an optional sharing time where you can discuss your work with peers and receive constructive feedback. This supportive environment fosters a sense of community and inspiration among classmates. Class Details I use two cameras during class: one focused on the teacher's work area for detailed instructions and another for students to showcase their creative choices. Flexible Enrollment Choose how many classes to attend without any long-term commitment! Join for a single session, stay enrolled for 10 months, or pop in and out based on your schedule. We are happy to accommodate your needs. Important Information ⚠️ Camera Requirement: Students must have their camera on for visual confirmation before class starts, after which they can choose how they wish to use it. ⚠️ Separate Enrollment: Each sibling or co-learner must enroll separately. Week 1: Sugar Glider Week 2: Student choice Week 3: Student choice Week 4: Student choice
Learning Goals
Students will improve their overall drawing skills while focusing on the line, texture, value/shading, proportion and perspective.

Supply List
To participate in the Drawing and Sketching Animals Club, you will need a few basic materials. Here's a list of what you'll need: Paper: You can use any type of paper that you're comfortable with. It can be plain white paper, sketch paper, or even a sketchbook. Pencils: You'll need a variety of pencils to create different shades and textures in your drawings. It's recommended to have a set of graphite pencils ranging from 2H to 6B. Eraser: An eraser is essential for correcting mistakes and making adjustments to your artwork. A kneaded eraser or a soft vinyl eraser are good options. Sharpener: Make sure you have a sharpener handy to keep your pencils sharp and ready for use. Optional: While not mandatory, you may also find the following materials helpful for enhancing your drawings: Colored pencils: If you want to add color to your animal drawings, having a set of colored pencils can be a great addition. Fine-tip pens: These can be useful for adding details and outlines to your sketches. Blending tools: You can use blending stumps or even tissue paper to blend and smudge graphite for shading effects. Remember, these are just the basic materials to get you started. Feel free to explore additional art supplies based on your personal preferences and interests. Looking forward to seeing your artwork in class!

About Me - Tami (Mrs. Oakes or Ms. Tami)
I am an artist and a passionate teacher with over ten years of experience in sharing the joy of art with kids aged 5 to 18. My journey in painting started long ago, and it has allowed me to bring live demonstrations to my students, helping them enhance their skills and explore their creativity.
In addition to my experience as an artist, I have spent many years in a traditional classroom setting, which prepared me to make the exciting transition to the virtual art studio on Outschool in 2020. I’m thrilled to be able to connect with young artists online and support them in their artistic journeys. Let's create something amazing together!
