Class Experience
**It's Back-to-School time out there for many students. If you would like to see this class offered at a different day/time during the week or weekend, message me and let me know. I'll check my calendar and see if I can accommodate your request. ** (Interested in my animal science classes but would prefer a Weekly Ongoing format? I have created two ongoing classes where you can enroll and learn about all my wild animal topics through a weekly subscription you can join, pause or cancel at...
1. Students will learn facts about the physical characteristics of Humpback Whales such as size, features, diet and habitat. 2. Students will learn how scientists use these characteristics to compare and classify Humpback whales. 3. Students will learn why conservation of Humpback Whales is important and what is being done to prevent their extinction. 4. Students will also learn new vocabulary words related to the study of Humpback Whales and ocean science.
As a child, I developed a strong love of nature and animals. Learning about and then teaching science became my passion in life and so I taught classroom science to preschool and elementary aged students for almost twenty years before coming to the Outschool platform.
There will be optional educational materials available in the classroom after class for learning extension. This class and its activities can provide a great way to develop, enrich or follow a learner's interests, as well as supplementing any afterschool or homeschool learning program. ** Also, after class, a link to a fun, simple test-your-knowledge Kahoot quiz will be shared in the comment section on the classroom page. This is optional. Younger learners might need help with reading and answering. It is a private link, no account necessary. **

Students will be learning concepts of science along with the opportunity to further develop their math, geography, vocabulary and creative thinking skills during class. I try to pace the class so I can reserve the last ten minutes for questions, reflection and student sharing. This is a fun type of closing activity that helps students organize and reflect what they have learned.
