Class Experience

Learners will improve their understanding of what it takes to get a job at a zoo or aquarium. Learners will also be introduced to the concepts of resume building and cover letter writing, job hunting, and college planning.
With nearly thirteen years of experience in the zoo and aquarium community, Dr. Wildlife has a wealth of practical knowledge to help learners succeed in their career goals. Doc has helped with projects around the world from rehabilitating injured seabirds in South Africa to tracking tigers in central India. Currently, Dr. Wildlife manages a CAZA accredited reptile-focused zoo near Toronto, Canada.
A one-page handout featuring a list of resources related to zookeeping as a career will be provided.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
We will discuss and refer to various zookeeper relating websites and resources such as the Association of Zoos and Aquariums as well as the American Association of Zookeeper. We will also be watching clips about this career field from various accredited zoo's YouTube channels.
