Class Experience
This is a 5 week general drawing class that will focus on the following wild birds: Hummingbirds, Robins, Woodpeckers, Bluebirds, Owls, Whooping Cranes, and Flamingos. Mrs. Collins (Science teacher) will be providing fun facts and a mini lesson on each bird, and then the students will draw. Mrs. Collins' wild bird classes are very popular so by request her classes have been combined into one 5 week session on Outschool using pre-recorded lessons. Students will be presented with two...
-learn about 8 different birds in the wild -learn fun facts about birds -learn the diet of these 8 birds -learn about the social group of these 8 birds -look at images of birds -listen to bird sounds -draw 8 birds
Mrs. Collins has been teaching school for 23 years, she loves science and birds. She has a certified bird area in her backyard where she regularly feeds Cardinals, Bluebirds, Nuthatches, Doves, and Crows.
No homework, but students are encouraged to draw outside of class time and look for birds to draw in nature.
2 files available upon enrollmentSupplies: paper crayons, markers, coloring pencils, markers or paint (paint brushes) headphones to listen to the lesson (optional) chalk (optional) chalk pastels (optional) tissue paper in several colors watercolor paint set with brush muffin cup tissues construction paper googly eyes for crafts tape glue Students will also be encouraged to create 3-d models of birds using coffee filters, construction paper, legos, and more. Those items are optional but a fun addition.
No assessment, just tons of fun drawing.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are asked to help the student the first week with navigation, and then after to check the class wall once a week.
