Class experience
US Grade 3 - 5
In this popular science class, students will learn facts about the largest subspecies of the Blue Whale found primarily in the Southern Ocean. We will explore and compare the habitat, characteristics, diet, family group and conservation status of Blue Whales. I will be using a presentation created using photo slides and asking interactive questions that will also integrate elements of geography, math and vocabulary into an animal science lesson designed to motivate natural curiosity. I will...
1. Students will learn facts about the physical characteristics of the Blue Whale such as size, diet, habitat and characteristics. 2. Students will learn how scientists use these characteristics to compare and classify a species like the Blue Whale. 3. Students will learn why conservation of Blue Whales is so important and what is being done to prevent the extinction of this species. 4. Students will learn new vocabulary words related to the study of the Blue Whale and the ocean habitat.
