Description
Class Experience
In this weekly drawing club, we will draw animals. Each week, there will be one or more wild or domestic animal drawn and discussed; learners can make suggestions about which animal they'd like to draw at upcoming sessions. We will discuss animal anatomy (bones, teeth, parts of the body) as applicable. Learners will interact with each other and the teacher by showing their work in progress throughout the class to receive feedback, and by chatting freely about animals and drawing. Our...
Learners will improve their understanding of animals from observation. Students will learn the age appropriate basics of animal anatomy. Learners will also practice such art making skills as composition, sizes, shapes, proportions, texture, contrast, and value (shading).
There is no homework, but sometimes a learner may want to finish a drawing after class time is over. Learners may also choose to prepare for next week's class by learning more about the animal we plan to draw, but it is not required to do so.
Learners will need basic school/art supplies: unlined paper (copy paper or a sketchpad), sharpened #2 pencils and erasers every time. Optional materials may include colored pencils, oil pastels or watercolor. I will always let learners know ahead of time if any of these are needed, and they will always be optional, not a requirement.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will be looking at student artwork throughout the class to check for understanding and provide feedback.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
