In this 4 week class, students will meet twice a week and learn a new word family. Teacher will introduce one word family each day for a total of 2 word families a week. Together, the students and teacher will brainstorm words from the word family. Teacher will write them down. After several words are visible, Teacher will remove the words shown and students will be asked to build words from the word family with their letter cards. Students will learn to read, write, and group words belonging to 8 different word families.
I hold a current California Clear Multiple Subject teaching credential in grades Pre-K through 8th grade with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education. I have taught in a traditional classroom for almost 20 years.
Practice building and reading words outside of class is encouraged but not required.
Materials will be available for print in the classroom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students are informally assessed through Kahoot! and ongoing observation in class.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents will need to print and prepare the letter cards prior to class.
There will be letter cards and other activities available from the classroom for download.
