Did you know that the Egyptians didn't have a name for "art" in their language? And, yet, it's the art of this mysterious culture that attracts most people to ancient Egypt itself. Let's find out why this beautiful art fascinates us today.

Description

Class Experience

1. Art is more than forms and colors. Art is determined by a culture's spiritual beliefs,
concept of beauty and its attitude regarding reality.
2. How ancient Egyptian art at its peak differed from other ancient art in the same time period, such as that of the Assyrians.
3. Who were the artists and craftspeople in ancient Egypt? And what was their status?
I hold a Certificate of Museum Studies from Harvard University and a Diploma in Egyptology from Oxford College in England. And I’ve been to Egypt three times on personalized, educational tours.

I've been captivated by ancient Egypt since I was 10 years old. And I feel it's my destiny to share my enthusiasm for and expertise on this beautiful and brilliant 5000-year-old civilization with all of you. I hope to see you soon in this class. I think you'll agree that The Egyptian Room is an attractive, fun and inspiring place to learn. And, please, if you like, call me Ms. Sennuwy - my chosen ancient Egyptian name.
I will ask students to select their favorite art of the ancient Egyptians to show the class. This will be by the way of images or objects. Students can either show what they've selected by sharing them during the class - or send them to me and I will insert them into the Keynote (Apple) presentation.
 1 file available upon enrollment
Officially, none.
There will be an informal, fun quiz at the beginning of the class (which students can download before) to see how much they know about ancient Egyptian art, and I will go over the same quiz with the students to see what they've learned after the class.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
You should know that ancient Egyptian art contains male and female nudity.
There will be images from several websites on the different forms of ancient Egyptian art. These will be included in a list sent to the students following the class.

Welcome to "The Ancient Egyptian Room!"

You never know what's going to happen in here. One time during a class, I asked a question about Cleopatra, and a voice from somewhere - not from the students - answered it. We...
