Description
Class Experience
Yes, it's true that the ancient Egyptians didn't have a name for art. That's how much art was an integral part of their lives just like their gods and goddesses. It wasn't like what we do in modern times: "Hey, let's go to the art museum this weekend." Art in all different forms surrounded them in their world, just as buildings surround us in our cities and countrysides. In this two-session class, we will discover why so many people are attracted to ancient Egyptian art. We'll discuss the...
1. Art is more than forms and colors. Art is determined by a culture's spiritual beliefs, concept of beauty and its attitude regarding reality. 2. How ancient Egyptian art at its peak differed from other ancient art in the same time period, such as that of the Assyrians. 3. Who were the artists and craftspeople in ancient Egypt? And what was their status?
I hold a Certificate of Museum Studies from Harvard University and a Diploma in Egyptology from Oxford College in England. And I’ve been to Egypt three times on personalized, educational tours. I've been captivated by ancient Egypt since I was 10 years old. And I feel it's my destiny to share my enthusiasm for and expertise on this beautiful and brilliant 5000-year-old civilization with all of you. I hope to see you soon in this class. I think you'll agree that The Egyptian Room is an attractive, fun and inspiring place to learn. And, please, if you like, call me Ms. Sennuwy - my chosen ancient Egyptian name.
I will ask students to select their favorite art of the ancient Egyptians to show the class. This will be by the way of images or objects. Students can either show what they've selected by sharing them during the class - or send them to me and I will insert them into the Keynote (Apple) presentation.

You should know that ancient Egyptian art contains male and female nudity.
There will be images from several websites on the different forms of ancient Egyptian art. These will be included in a list sent to the students following the class.
