Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Welcome to the concept of Ubuntu, a beautiful African Philosophy, supporting the importance of the individual to the whole, and the whole to the individual!

Firstly we will learn a little bit about Africa, and the time period that popularized the concept of Ubuntu (South African Apartheid).

Next we will learn about the concept of Ubuntu, and listen to traditional stories explaining how it works.

After that we will have a discussion, about what we need to do to live Ubuntu, e.g. kindness, co-operation.

All students will have to opportunity to offer their opinions on the idea, this is how we foster amazing Critical Thinkers, able to handle anything the world throws at them!

My teaching style is fun and engaging but with substance, I believe young ones can deal with ideas previously seen as 'complex', if they are exposed in the correct way. Philosophy is about discussion, so we will be discussing everyone's perspectives and using power point slides!

No previous knowledge required! Especially great class for kids who ask a lot on questions, beginning to focus their Critical Thinking Skills in an academic fashion.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their knowledge and understanding of African History and Culture, they will also be able to deepen their Critical Thinking Skills, and gain new wisdom on how to be a great person!

Hello! I'm Sorrel. I’m passionate about Myths, Legends and Philosophy.

With a Master's in Psychology and a Bachelor's in Philosophy and History, I've always approached teaching with a twist.

My aim? To create curiosity and to help hone the analytical prowess of young minds.

For more than 3.5 years, I've had the privilege to teach on Outschool, delving into ancient tales and philosophical wonders alongside students from diverse backgrounds. what I cherish and enjoy the most is introducing young minds to college and university-level concepts.

It's incredible to see these young learners not only comprehend but often excel beyond our expectations, and master many profound concepts

For me, education transcends facts alone. It's about equipping learners to stand confident in their beliefs, challenging norms, thinking critically, and truly believing in the might of their intellect.

So, why join me in this educational adventure?
Empowerment: Every lesson is tailored to kindle self-belief and confidence.
A Holistic Experience: While we dissect intellectually stimulating ideas, we always make room to introspect on our emotional resonance.
Fresh Perspectives: I'm here to offer a fresh take, shattering conventional bounds and encouraging innovative thought.
Revitalised Learning: I'm determined to show that even the most 'stuffy' subjects can be exhilarating, enlightening, and deeply enriching.

With me, learning is not just about information; it's a holistic journey of knowledge, wisdom, and wellbeing. Let's embark on this transformative experience together!
