Why Should You Keep Trying When Things Are Hard? Learn About Growth Mindset
What's included
1 live meeting
50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, students will learn about growth mindset and neuroplasticity. Growth mindset is the belief that you can keep trying and improve skills overtime to become good at just about anything. Neuroplasticity is the science that proves this mindest to be true. Scientists have studied the brain and found that it physically changes to adapt to it's environment and the skills that are being used. Neurons and connections are physically built in the brain with practicing any skill. This is true for video games, academic concepts, coordination, or social skills. If you want to encourage perseverance, grit, and prevent yourself/your learner from giving up when things get tough, this class is for you. We will discuss experiences with building our own skills, and how we have each seen growth mindset in action. We will examine times we have each grown our own skills through effort. We will learn the science of neuroplasticity in a developmentally appropriate way. I will emphasize this means we should keep trying and not give up. When we challenge and exercise our brain by doing difficult things, it gets stronger just like our muscles do when we work out.
Learning Goals
Students will develop perseverance though learning about growth mindset and neuroplasticity.
