Students will learn about how and why November 11th is a holiday in many countries. What is Armistice or Remembrance Day and why is it observed on this date? Students will look at common expressions associated with November 11th and discuss what they mean. We will discuss the poppy and why it is an important symbol. We will watch short video clips, look at images via google slides and analyze the poem "In Flander's Fields". Students will take part in discussions about what they understand from the poem and see why and where it was written. After we have learned about it, we will play a Kahoot game to test our knowledge! Why do Canadians, British, French, Australians Americans and many more observe this day with a holiday?
