From shoelaces to ships, knots tie the world together! Knots serve both a functional and practical, as well as decorative and ornamental purpose in modern society. Surgeons, tailors, rock climbers, and farmers are just a few of the people that rely on knots in their daily work and life. In this interactive and ongoing course, students will learn to tie a new knot (or two!) during each class session. Tying a knot is a puzzle that requires a disciplined hand, a steady eye, and an open and alert mind. Students will learn the intricate dance of skill and coordination through hands-on practice as they craft new knots. While creating a new knot, students will learn about the use-case of each knot in an applied, real world setting. Each class will begin with a demonstration of a new knot and a knot diagram will be provided for students reference both during after the class. Students will work individually or in small groups to complete the knot of the day. Students will present their finished knot to their peers and will describe their tying process. No previous knot tying experience is needed and all experience levels are welcome. Why knot join us on this knot tying adventure?
