Description
Class Experience
The students will learn about the importance and benefits of drinking water. We will touch on the differences between water and sodas and how they each affect your health. At the end of the class, I will ask the students to share one thing that they can do now with the information that they have learned.
My name is Dawnmarie U. Grack, and I have been working in the nutrition field since 2014. I am a Certified Health Coach and enjoy sharing the benefits of being healthy with young people. Even one choice to be healthier can make an impact on our bodies. That one choice could be to drink more water.
I will share a family activity that will help your family to work together to see how much sugar is in the beverages that you have in your home. This will be for extra fun and learning for you and your child.
You do not need any materials, yet you may want to have a pencil and paper handy in case you want to take notes. Optionally, plan to have some room around your area if you would like to do a flexibility activity toward the end of class. No exercise is required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
While I would not consider these two things mature content, I am sharing them here in case anybody is sensitive to these topics. I will share about how water helps us go to the bathroom and how lack of water can make it difficult to go to the bathroom. I will talk a little bit about calories and about how people who drink more soda and less water are more likely to gain weight and why this happens.
