🦷 Why do teeth fall out? How many teeth will I lose? Will it hurt? Should I wiggle it or leave it alone? How do I know if my tooth is ready to pull out? Why haven’t I lost any teeth yet? What if I accidentally swallow my loose tooth? As a Registered Dental Hygienist, I have answered questions like these many times. I love teaching children about their oral health in a way that is fun and easy to understand. This one-time class will combine scientific learning with social sharing to explore the exciting world of losing teeth! First, I will answer common questions through an interactive lesson highlighting the science behind why we lose teeth. We will also discuss some animals that lose and grow new teeth like we do. Students can share how many teeth they have lost, show us a spot in their mouth where they lost a tooth, share a story about losing a tooth, or show us a wiggly tooth. Then, my crocodile friend will join us for a trivia game. Be careful, he bites! After class, I will send each learner a free printable tooth loss chart. I created this chart for my students as a fun way to track their lost teeth. After class, learners will feel confident and know what to expect throughout the exciting years of wiggly teeth. I can not wait to see your child’s cute smile! Note: I do not cancel any of my classes for low enrollment. This class is fun even with just 1 learner! If your child does not feel comfortable being the only learner in class, please send me a message. 🙂
Learning Goals
Students will learn the difference between primary and permanent teeth, will understand more about the shedding and eruption of teeth, and will know what to expect before and after losing a tooth. Together we will use this information to compare our teeth with animal teeth.
