Class experience

US Grade 8 - 11

I am a licensed social studies teacher in the state where I live. I developed and taught this lesson for a 9th grade World Geography class I taught.
I have several years of experience working with adolescents as a mentor, camp counselor, tutor, teacher, and Debate coach.
Homework Offered
Assessments Offered
After each clip, students will be asked to identify the reason the main character left and label that reason as either a push factor or a pull factor. Students will then be asked to think critically and come up with possible impacts of that migration. If a letter grade is desired, families may request it in advance and I will send a worksheet to be filled out by the student as we go. This worksheet will then need to be returned so I can grade it.
Grades Offered
This class revolves around migration and the reasons people move. These reasons can be sensitive and include topics like violence, famine, poverty, and oppression. Migration can also be sensitive as it relates to politics and legality. Conversations about politics and the legality of migration are not the main focus of this class, but the topics may still be breached.
