Who Stole Gerdy? Solve the Crime With Forensic Science!

In this one-day class, students will use forensic evidence from fingerprints, footprints, fibers, blood and DNA to solve the crime of who stole the class pet. I will teach the students how this evidence is collected and used to solve crimes. The class will start with a list of suspects and as we collect the evidence, we will eliminate suspects until we find the guilty person. Students will have the opportunity to look at and examine different fingerprints, footprints and fibers. Additionally, they will create a DNA fingerprint and decode a secret message. I will guide the students and they will collaborate with other learners to help solve the crime. Students do not have to have prior knowledge in forensic science as this is a basic introduction into the science.
