Led by an instructor passionate about Chicano studies and experienced in Mexican American education, this session features a carefully curated slideshow presentation to discover Claudia's biography, her leadership role, and her impact on gender norms in politics. The class structure includes interactive discussions to encourage questions and reflections, culminating in a fun interactive game to reinforce learning and review key concepts. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chicano Studies and having also completed the 2022 MAS Teachers' Academy and the 2024 MAS Teachers' Academy, I have immersed myself in the study of Mexican American history, culture, and identity, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the complexities. As a founder of a community-focused organization dedicated to cultural enrichment, I have honed my skills in curriculum development, community engagement, and advocacy for Mexican American issues. From coordinating events such as Dia de Muertos celebations to leading initiatives for neighborhood growth and empowerment, i have demonstrated a commitment to fostering pride, resilience, and cultural appreciation within Mexican American communities. As a public librarian, I have organized numerous programs centered around Mexican American culture, providing educational resources and opportunities for community members of all ages. With an interactive and inclusive teaching style, I aim to inspire curiosity and instill a sense of cultural identify and belonging among young learners, empowering them to embrace their heritage and become global citizens.
