Please reach out if you have any questions!*** Halloween is a tradition that started in America in the 1900's, but did you know that trick-or-treating didn't become popular until 1950?? Halloween wasn't even celebrated at the White House until the year 1958! In this class we will learn about 10 presidents and how they have celebrated Halloween in the White House! The following presidents will be discussed: -Dwight D. Eisenhower -John F. Kennedy -Richard Nixon -Jimmy Carter -Ronald Reagan -George H.W. Bush -Bill Clinton -George Bush -Barack Obama -Donald Trump In this lecture and discussion style class, the students will be presented with a PowerPoint slideshow full of information, pictures, and videos of past presidents, as well as the current president, celebrating Halloween! This class does not focus much on the political aspects of the presidents, but rather, a more fun side of the presidents that we don't normally see. They are people just like us and want to celebrate fun holidays as well! At the end of class, students will play Kahoot! trivia to test their knowledge on Halloween at the White House! Please have an extra device ready for the student to play Kahoot! on. I am looking forward to meeting you and teaching you all about Halloween at the White House! See you soon!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the history of Halloween at the White House. To test their comprehension of the information, students will participate in a fun trivia game at the end of class on Kahoot!

I love teaching interactive classes that get the students involved while feeling completely comfortable while they are in my classroom. I was such a shy student when I was in school and it warms my heart to see students that remind me of myself. I love working with these students and helping them build their confidence. Reading, math, and American history are my passions but I hope to offer many different types of classes for your learners including fun crafting classes, as this is something I love to do in my free time!
I have been working with students since 2007, when I began babysitting. I even took a course when I was in middle school that made me a Certified Sitter through the Red Cross. As I got older, my passion for helping and teaching children only continued to grow. I completed the education as a career pathway course in high school which allowed me to work in a local elementary school for 2 of my high school years. I gained so much experience while doing this. I was able to work with small groups of students on things such as math and reading, which is where my passion began. After high school, I went to college for three years to become a teacher before changing my major to sociology. I still loved teaching, but I became so interested in how our society affects the way that students learn and the opportunities that they have. Throughout college, I worked as an assistant in an after school program where I was responsible for working with children ages 5-11. As the years went on, I was promoted to the director of the after school program. Along with being the director, I was also an online ESL teacher. Currently, I am teaching 1st grade at a local private school and I absolutley LOVE my job! In my younger years, I always wanted to teach and I still want to teach. I have equipped myself with years of education experience as well as sociology experience and I have a good grasp on why children act the way they do and how those actions can affect their learning. I love the online platform because it allows me to do what I have always wanted to do - teach.
I am so excited and thrilled for the opportunity to meet your learner! See you soon!!
