1 in-class hoursClass Experience
During this engaging class, I will help learners write a whimsical paragraph about an animal character that they create. We will begin by introducing ourselves and the word "whimsical." Additionally, we will review adjectives, nouns, verbs, and descriptive paragraphs. Together, we will brainstorm interesting ideas about characters and settings. Notably, I will encourage each learner to write and share at least 5 fictional sentences. (Some learners write and share more.) Guidance, praise, and feedback will be given throughout the writing process. It would be helpful if learners can read and write at least basic sentences. While sharing my screen, I often type up some ideas and sentences that learners share with the group. This can benefit learners who need more help with writing or spelling. Essentially, I just ask that everyone tries their best and uses their creative powers. Some students like to draw their character, and that's awesome. Furthermore, there will be opportunities to listen to others and express kind comments. Learners often inspire me and each other with their fresh, funny, and interesting ideas. My friendly personality helps facilitate learning and conversations.

Parental Guidance
Magical things will be discussed, and some learners may incorporate magical elements in their writing. For example, an animal character might be able to turn into a human. However, this class has a secular and creative focus. Also, I use Canva to create the lesson material, but learners do not need to print anything out. I share my screen during the meeting.
Supply List
Learners will need paper, pencils, and an eraser.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Kendall. I've been teaching on Outschool since July 2021, and I've joyfully worked with children for over 10 years. Essentially, I enjoy personalizing educational experiences and facilitating learning in fun ways. I'm an encouraging educator, and I value authenticity, creativity, and diversity. On Outschool, I mainly teach poetry and writing classes. I taught English online to children in other countries for 2 years, and I'm excited to connect with more learners from around the world. I'm TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certified. I've also worked as an English tutor, after-school science instructor, engaging camp counselor, and assistant camp supervisor. Additionally, I've really enjoyed working with children who are autistic, and I have some personal and professional experience with neurodiversity. Notably, I'm grateful for all of the bright and beautiful brains that help make Outschool so cool! :-]
As a lifelong learner, I appreciate how others and education can shape our evolution. I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a BA in Anthropology, and I have an AA in Psychology from a community college. I decided that I want to become a veterinarian later in life, so I've been working on prerequisites that I need for vet school. I love the flexibility and outstanding opportunities that Outschool offers. So, cheers to learning and loving an array of things! Thank you, and I look forward to connecting with you.
