In this 3-part poetry series, young poets will explore three unique poetry styles: concrete (shape), sensory, and list poetry. Through art, discussion, and crafting their own poems, learners will discover how words can take on shapes, spark senses, and come to life on the page! Learning Goals
Understand the concept of concrete (shape) poetry: Learners will learn that concrete poems use the visual shape of the words to reflect the subject of the poem.
Use descriptive language and imagery in writing: Learners will practice brainstorming and choosing vivid, sensory words that relate to their chosen shape or subject.

Writing supplies (pencil would be best so the learner can erase and have paper ready) Learners can use digital art as long as they are proficient in it (I will not be able to help them use it during class).

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
