Class Experience

In this weekly course, students will practice identifying, adding and using money in a variety of scenarios. At the beginning of each course, we will review the coins and bills and practice counting them. Students will be given a set amount of money to count and add, then they will discuss how it can be used in the real world. We will discuss the impact of spending and saving in each class and students will simulate scenarios where money is either saved or spent.

Lessons will be discussion based and each student will play an integral role in the lesson. My teaching style is upbeat and interactive. I prioritize student involvement in each and every lesson, calling on students to share and speak, facilitating discussion in a lively yet organized way.

The following includes the scenarios that will be used to teach weekly finance lessons:
August 11: A Trip to Disney - spending and saving on vacation
August 18: School Supplies- spending and saving for the start of school
August 25: My Best Friend's Birthday- saving and spending on gifts for our friends
September 1: My New Pet: saving for and spending money on our furry friends
September 7: A New Toy: saving up for a new toy vs. spending money on small things
September 15: The Art of Giving: how to fit giving in with our saving and spending

I paid off over $100,000 of debt in less than 4 years! My husband and I were featured on the Dave Ramsey show to share our story and inspire others. In the process of reaching this goal, we became budgeting goo-roos and educated ourselves on financial literacy to stay motived and stick to our goal. I'm excited to have the opportunity to help young people understand their money and make real financial goals to get ahead in life!
