Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
In this course, students will learn geography while chasing down criminal....think Carmen Sandiego style. Students are going to use various clues to find the thief who has stolen a rare artifact (MAYBE)....

This class will meet 5 days per week for one hour; I have designed this course to not only teach students geography but, also landmarks, flags, maybe music, and some fun travel insights from around the world.

This course will be presented to students using a PowerPoint presentation, Video, Audio, and Google Earth. Students will be given a printable chart that they will use to complete the week's mission; here is how things will work:

The mission will start in an undisclosed location; students will work individually using hints, images, class discussion, and even their own resources (phones, iPads, maps, google, etc) to find the next continent, landmark, country, state, city or ocean...Each day we will visit two continents such as Antarctica, Africa, South America, and Europe; while visiting countries like Russia, India, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, and many more. On our final day of class we will complete our mission and review the locations in which the thief traveled (remember it’s Carmen Sandiego style) to ensure that each student has a better understand of their new geographical skills and to tally up their score to see if they have what it takes to "catch a criminal."

All students will be required to have the printable chart with them on the first day, an additional device, and are required to come to class with a smile on their face as this class is going to be FUN :)
