Assignments
1-2 hours per week. Learners will receive 1-2 assignments throughout the class to reinforce concepts discussed in the sessions. These may include self-reflection exercises, career research tasks, or goal-setting worksheets. Questionnaires to evaluate personal interests and strengths Career exploration assignments to research and present potential career paths Goal-setting exercises to outline short- and long-term career and personal goals
Grading
Feedback will be available upon request, focusing on personal growth, understanding of the material, and progress toward goals. Evaluation will be based on participation, effort, and completion of the assignments, with an emphasis on individual progress rather than formal grading.

"When I Grow Up" is a 4-week course for teens ages 15-18 designed to help students explore their career interests, discover their strengths, and build a clear, personalized plan for their future. Through engaging activities, self-reflection exercises, and group discussions, learners will dive deep into career exploration, decision-making, and the skills necessary to navigate their transition into adulthood. This course offers a safe, supportive environment where students can openly share their thoughts and challenges regarding career paths and goals while building the confidence to tackle life after high school.

What will be taught?

+ Self-discovery: Identifying passions, strengths, and interests
+ Decision-making skills: Overcoming fear, uncertainty, and societal pressures
+ Career exploration: Researching industries, job roles, and educational paths
+ Goal setting: Creating achievable short-term and long-term career goals
+ Planning for the future: Building a personalized roadmap for career success

The course is spread over four weeks, with each session lasting 1.5 hours. Each week covers a specific theme and builds upon the previous lessons. The class structure includes a balance of direct instruction, interactive group activities, and individual reflection. There will be time for personal feedback, discussion, and sharing, allowing students to engage deeply with the material.

This class teaches using a variety of methods to keep students engaged and involved. These methods include:

+ Interactive lectures to introduce key concepts and ideas
+ Group discussions to encourage peer interaction and idea-sharing
+ Hands-on activities such as decision-making exercises and goal-setting worksheets
+ Creative games to explore different career paths and life scenarios
+ Self-reflection exercises to help students explore their interests and goals

This class fosters a relaxed, supportive, and open environment where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and asking questions. My teaching style is highly interactive, with a focus on discussion and hands-on activities to keep learners engaged. I guide students to think critically and independently, but I am always available for one-on-one guidance, encouragement, and feedback. I believe in nurturing each student's unique strengths and allowing them to explore at their own pace. Learners will have plenty of opportunities to interact with me throughout the course. 

Each session includes:

+ Discussion time where students can share their ideas, ask questions, and receive guidance

Learning Needs
This class is designed to support learners with diverse needs, including those with ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD. We use a structured yet flexible approach, breaking down tasks into manageable steps with clear, visual instructions and tools.
Parental Guidance
This class does not contain any upsetting or scary content. However, students will engage in discussions about future life decisions, which may evoke feelings of uncertainty or anxiety for some learners. These discussions are handled in a supportive and encouraging manner, helping students navigate these emotions with confidence. No media content will be used that requires parental approval. All activities and assignments are designed to be completed independently by students with no need for safety precautions. NOTE: This class is not intended to provide solutions or specific advice on career or educational goals. Instead, it serves as a tool to enhance learners' ability and confidence to explore future possibilities and make informed decisions.
Pre-Requisites
There are no formal prerequisites for this class. However, it is helpful if learners come with a basic interest in exploring their future career options and an openness to reflect on their goals, strengths, and passions.
