"When I Grow Up" is a 4-week course for teens ages 15-18 designed to help students explore their career interests, discover their strengths, and build a clear, personalized plan for their future. Through engaging activities, self-reflection exercises, and group discussions, learners will dive deep into career exploration, decision-making, and the skills necessary to navigate their transition into adulthood. This course offers a safe, supportive environment where students can openly share their thoughts and challenges regarding career paths and goals while building the confidence to tackle life after high school. What will be taught? + Self-discovery: Identifying passions, strengths, and interests + Decision-making skills: Overcoming fear, uncertainty, and societal pressures + Career exploration: Researching industries, job roles, and educational paths + Goal setting: Creating achievable short-term and long-term career goals + Planning for the future: Building a personalized roadmap for career success The course is spread over four weeks, with each session lasting 1.5 hours. Each week covers a specific theme and builds upon the previous lessons. The class structure includes a balance of direct instruction, interactive group activities, and individual reflection. As a mother of 8 children and a dedicated educator, I bring years of firsthand experience working with a diverse range of students, both in the classroom and in therapeutic settings. My expertise includes working with neurodivergent children, those from various cultural backgrounds, and being sensitive to pronoun preferences. I hold a master’s degree in clinical psychology, am a licensed therapist in the state of Arizona, and am currently pursuing a PhD in education and psychology. With years of experience working with children and teens (ages 5-18), I specialize in guiding students through self-discovery, career exploration, and future planning in a positive and inclusive environment.
