Teacher expertise and credentials
Hey guys! Miss Tolbert here!
After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Elementary Education, I have worked as an elementary school teacher for five years now. Most of my experience has been teaching the fourth and fifth grades. I have taught everything from simple tens-frame addition to elementary level statistics and data analysis and so much more.
One thing I have learned from my time teaching is that there is always another way to get to a correct answer. And, that every person learns differently. So I strive to appeal to all of those unique learning styles and methods.
I am an enthusiastic and passionate person when it comes to math because I understand how difficult all of it can be. My classes use conceptual methods to consider alternative ways to solve math-related topics that children struggle with in school. These include money, time, geometry, division, multiplication, and fractions.
But math isn’t the only thing I enjoy! I am also a former gymnast of 10 years, an amateur painter, a make-shift scientist, a dabbler in gardening, and a brilliant barista. I am all over anything that requires divergent ways of thinking and time to master. With the energy of a thousand suns, I will always have a smile on my face and nothing but encouraging things to say. Most importantly, I will always take the time to get to know the children I work with to empower them in all ways possible.
