Sometimes a doctor’s office can bring about nervousness or anxiety in patients, especially children. In this class we will be the doctor. We will help our “patients” (stuffed friends, action figures, or dolls) with the use of our medical tools. We will learn the names of each medical instrument, how it is used, and why. This will allow the learner to gain understanding as to why the nurses and doctors have certain procedures and processes when we go to the doctor. This could be a calming lesson to allow them to verbalize the stiles the doctors and nurses take when we go for check up. Each learner is encouraged to bring their doctor kit if they have one and a stuffed friend to be the patient. Together we will help our patients in various ways depending on the issue the patient is having. This class is a fun approach to learning about the medical world while easing their minds with what to expect and why it is done. See you in the classroom, Doc!
Learning Goals
Each student will remember the names of at least 5 medical instruments.
