Did you know that before stoves and microwaves, hot sand was used to make popcorn?! Just “popping” by to say join us to make rainbow popcorn. In this sweet cooking class, students will learn fun facts about popcorn and learn how to make a colorful and tasty snack, yum!
Class experience
Put away the mundane popcorn in a bag and let’s pop our own! Here’s a simple popcorn recipe for how to make rainbow popcorn with bright colors and a sweet flavor. You will not believe how much flavor you can get from just a few simple ingredients! The best part of these homemade popcorn recipe is that they look just as good as they taste. Imagine all of these beautiful colors in a delicious light snack. In this fun-filled cooking class, the teacher will share interesting facts about popcorn....
At the end of this classes, students will improve their skills as chefs. They will be able to recall the steps to this recipe, choose the correct equipment to use for different purposes and demonstrate the creation of rainbow popcorn.

1 file available upon enrollment✔️ 1 cup of Loose UNPOPPED popcorn kernels ✔️ Microwave (Have your child work where the microwave is so the teacher can better guide them.) ✔️ 1 microwave cover with VENT holes ✔️ 3 MICROWAVABLE medium sized bowls (NOT PLASTIC) ✔️ 3 different colors of food coloring (any colors, but neon colors & the liquid type works best) ✔️ 3 tablespoons of butter ✔️ 3 tablespoons of canola or vegetable oil ✔️ 1 tablespoon of salt ✔️ 1 cup of honey (or corn syrup) ✔️ 1 large tray or bowl ✔️ 1 spoon (tablespoon sized) ✔️ ¼ measuring cup ✔️ 1 pair of oven mittens ***NO file is needed for class. The file is merely a welcome picture.***
Safety is paramount for each chef! Please make sure students can safely use a microwave. The bowls can get hot, so ensure your child is using oven mitts when handling it out of the microwave. Adult supervision may be needed in assisting the student in case they are new to the experience. Additionally, review the listed ingredients to ensure students are not allergic to them or need to substitute with an alternative that is safe for your child.
