This is an eight-week class in which students will learn the basics of creating a short story through the lens of the macabre. Students will write and give a reading of their own short horror story just in time for Halloween.

Week 1: The Important Elements of Horror/Setting Fear of the unknown is one of the most important elements in creating a horror story. During our first meeting we will share our deepest fears, discuss what makes something scary, and determine the Important Elements of Horror. This class is taught in English.
Students will use the elements of fiction to craft a short horror story.
There is no set homework for this course. However, students will be given a list of age appropriate short horror stories they can read for inspiration. Also, students will be given plenty of time to finish their stories during class, but may need extra time to finish and practice reading aloud their work before our Fright Night gathering.
There is no assessment for this course.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Will will be reading short horror stories for this class. A list of these stories will be provided, if you deem something too scary for your child, they do not have to read it.
