Planning and preparing a healthy meal for the family is often something we don't learn until we have families of our own. But why? Kids who are involved in meal preparation tend to be more open to trying new foods and eat better, healthier meals throughout their lives. About 23 years ago I discovered a real love of cooking. While I nursed my first new baby I obsessively watched cooking shows, scoured cookbooks, and joined my grandmother and father (both brilliant cooks) in the kitchen. Since I started cooking, I have had 3 more kids and continued my journey exploring new recipes and cooking. Now all of my kids love cooking and trying new foods. We cook regularly together and even my 5-year-old makes dinner once a week (with help of course.)

Please make sure your child is comfortable using the oven and stove top as well as a knife. If you or your child are uncomfortable with that, please be available to assist as needed.
