Class Experience

Students will be able to read and analyze a work of fiction. 
I am offering this class as I loved the novel when I read it. I also love the comparisons/contrasts with today’s current events. I am English 7-12 certified and my hands on comprehension approach helps students form connections to their learning and the world. 
Each week students will receive a reading  and comprehension assignment and an extension activity. Reading assignments will consist of between 20-25 pages to read independently 
Teacher will provide materials. Students will need to obtain a copy of the novel either in paperback or pdf version (between $3.00/10.00 on Amazon or Good Reads).
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learner progress is evaluated through participation in class discussion and completion of assignments.  
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This class is suitable for the ages listed. Some themes may be too intense for younger learners. Some material may involve violence and mature themes such as global destruction and reproduction. Themes of individuality, fitting in and exclusion are also discussed
