Class Experience

What do you need to create a shadow? Why do shadows seem to get longer or shorter? The students will explore the answers to these questions through hands on experiments and experiences.
We will discuss what we need to create a shadow. The students will learn how to create different shadow puppets with their hands to explore when we see shadows. They will learn how to make the shadows bigger and smaller.
Class one will be introducing the concept and learning what is needed to create a shadow.
The students will learn how to do the experiment and materials will be uploaded to the classroom protal. They will need to complete the experiment between class one and class two.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi I'm Jenn! I am a Children's book author and Early Childhood Educator from Canada, and have been teaching 3-14 year old learners since 2013. I got halfway through a program to become an elementary school teacher before switching to a psychology based degree in Child Youth and Family studies. My focus is on healthy child brain and body development.

My passion is in understanding the functions of the human brain! Children who understand how their brain works, and understand concepts like brain plasticity are more likely to be resilient and develop a growth mindset. I teach psychology classes and my goal is to teach children how to be resilient and how to build on their strengths while strengthening their weaknesses. My published book is about the brain as well!

I worked as a personal support worker while I was studying, and I emphasize inclusivity in my classes. If you have a learner who needs any adjustment to fit their needs send me a message. I will work with you to make their learning experience a success. I am happy to add subtitles to my own video content, change class sizes to meet individualized needs, and accommodate students based on their developmental level.

I am passionate about travel and I plan on world schooling my own children when they get older! I have a number of travel related classes available. Keep an eye out for virtual world schooling classes in the future! When it is safe to travel again I will be taking my classroom on the road.

I can't wait to meet you in the classroom!
