Students will learn about what stress is, what it feels like, how to acknowledge when you are stressed, and how to effectively overcome stress. Additionally, students will gain coping skills and strategies from this course that they will be able to take home and use. Students will interact with the teacher and their classmates via the Zoom classroom. Students will require a few sheets of paper and a pencil to complete this class successfully. If students are more visual learners, they may draw instead of write. In this case, students may want to bring pencil crayons/markers/crayons to class. The topics covered in this course include: 1. Stress - What is stress? What does stress feel like? 2. Stressors - What causes us to be stressed? What makes you stressed? 3. What is Coping? How can you cope? - How can we make ourselves feel better? What strategies can we employ? 4. Finding a Balance - What is balance? What is a balanced lifestyle? 5. What to do if you Feel Stressed/Overwhelmed - What can we do and who can we talk to when we feel stressed? 6. Mindful Breathing Techniques - Techniques to take with you anywhere! 7. Opportunities for Questions and Discussion. Students do not require any prior knowledge for this course. However, students will be discussing feelings. Students will not be pushed to speak in this course and will only be asked to share if they feel comfortable. This classroom will provide a safe space for students to discuss their stress and what makes them worry.
