What Is Money? : A course that will explain money, checking, savings interest, loans, stocks & bonds to upper elementary school learners.

US Grade 4 - 6
The student will be taught the following modules over the 8 classes (1) What Is Money? How did it start? (2) What Is A Bank? How did they start? What Do Banks Do With The Money We Put In Them? (3) What Is A Checking Account? How does it work? How do you keep track of deposits and withdrawals? How do you balance your checkbook? (4) What Is A Savings Account? Why is it different from other accounts? (5) What Is Interest? How does it work? How do you calculate the future value of money using interest? (6) What Is A Loan? How does it work? How do people get a loan? (7) What Is A Stock? How do people buy and sell stocks and why? What is the stock market? (8) What Is A Bond? Why are they important? The student will use their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills in completing assignments and see the application of these math principles in our everyday life when using money.  
Homework Offered
Students will be completing assignments individually. Homework will take approximately 40 minutes a week.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The learner will be assessed a letter grade, based on their completion of classwork, homework, and some short quizzes to check for understanding.
Grades Offered
Student/Learner will need some form of a simple calculator, physical or online, to do addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems. Paper and pencil.
