During this one-time class, we will learn about how to become a physical therapist, the types of physical therapy, and how a physical therapist helps people to regain their physical function! Topics we will cover: Discussion: Is anyone interested in possibly becoming a physical therapist? What is a Physical Therapist? Where do Physical Therapists work? What is the mean salary of a physical therapist? Physical Therapist Education Physical Therapist Licensure How to prepare to get into a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program Continuing Education Specialization areas Physical Therapy Examination and Evaluation Physical Therapy Interventions A day in the life of a physical therapist: what is it really like? The material will be presented lecture-style with slides. Class participation is encouraged as we will discuss who is thinking of becoming a physical therapist or going into another related field. No previous experience with or knowledge of physical therapy is required, as this is an informative, relaxed class about the basics of the profession of physical therapy.
Learning Goals
The goal of this class is to learn about the basics of the profession of physical therapy, perhaps to get learners thinking about their future career paths and/or to learn about the profession for personal reasons.
