This welcoming and beginner-friendly class provides an accessible introduction to the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning. We'll define both areas of study and understand their historical context, and discuss modern applications (such as facial recognition, optical character recognition, and image classification) to help learners develop an intuition for how these techniques work. After receiving my degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Columbia University, I have taught computer science and math at middle and high school level, including Artificial Intelligence. I have also trained software engineers and non-technical employees in practical machine learning skills in corporate settings.
Students will need access to a computer with a webcam, microphone, keyboard, and the Google Chrome web browser.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
